Whether they are acquired from sudden weight changes, or pregnancy, stretch marks make people uncomfortable and insecure, especially when wearing revealing clothes.
Stretch marks often appear on the breast and abdomen during pregnancy. The reason is partly hormonal. During pregnancy, hormones have the job of softening the collagen ligaments of the pelvis, so that the tissues can stretch easily during childbirth. Unfortunately, the skin collagen softens as well, allowing stretch marks to form easily.
There have been many beauty products in the market claiming to remove stretch marks in no time—but they often cost a lot. Thankfully, there are household items that can help in reducing stretch marks. Did you know that coffee and olive oil are both effective in removing stretch marks?
Coffee grounds gently exfoliate and stimulate collagen production in the skin, while olive oil locks moisture in the skin cells.
How to make olive oil and coffe paste:
Mix 1 tablespoon olive oil with 1 teaspoon coffee grounds.
Massage the mixture gently on stretch marks.
After 5 minutes, leave it on for 20 minutes.
Remove and wash off with warm water.
Pat dry and apply any moisturizer of your choice.
For extra benefits, add 1 teaspoon brown sugar.
Repeat 3 times a week.
What are stretch marks?
Stretch marks look like thin, stretched tissue, and that is more or less what they are. They appear in people who put on or lose weight rapidly. The upper layer of the skin is normal, but in the lower layer the collagen and elastin, which give the skin its strength and elasticity, have become thinner and broken.
