Dance is one art humans love to watch. Why do you think there are so many reality dancing shows on TV?
But in Tahiti, the hura is a traditional dance for women. You’ll know it by its characteristic hip-shaking. But when this 19-year-old girl gets on the stage and starts moving, you won’t be able to look away!
In the video, you’ll see the smiling Melanie Amen performing the dance perfectly.
As soon as the drum beat starts taking off, she starts her performance to the cheers of the audience.
Because she’s been dancing since she was a little toddler, Amen has mastered the hura. Although she called Stockton, California home, she’s mastered the moves that originated thousands of miles away.
Not only did she win the competition from the video shared below, she’s traveled to compete against native Tahitians and won!
Earlier this year, Amen attended the Ori Tahiti Nui World Dance Championship in Tahiti and earned the top spot beating out dozens of other women.
Check out her performance in the video below. You won’t be able to take your eyes off of her!
