The 21-year-old baseball player is one of the star prospects of the Toronto Blue Jays. When he first signed, he received a bonus of $2 million! While his teammates treat themselves to mansions and sports cars, Daniel bought nothing more than a T-shirt on his first payday. Money is simply not important to the young man.
The rising sports star lives in his van that he affectionately names “Shaggy”. All his worldly possessions are piled together within the van’s tiny interior. Daniel can’t even stand upright inside. Despite this, he wouldn't have it any other way.
Daniel pays himself just 800 dollars a month from of his million-dollar fortune. To him, that’s more than enough. “"Who am I to deserve that?" he wondered. "What have I really done? I'm actually more comfortable being kind of poor.”
He believes his life is very luxurious because he is able to live in a VW van which allows him to travel around, sleep at the beach and awake to the sound of the waves. But not just that: even though he has millions he still goes to work during the offseason. He has a fulltime job at an outdoor recreation store at home in Tennessee.
If he continues to play so well, he may soon receive a 50-million dollar contract. But even then Daniel won’t change anything in his life and will cling to what he loves: his freedom. And his old VW van.
The 21-year-old Daniel is really a spectacular person who lives the life that he loves – without listening to what others tell him. Share this story to show others that you don’t need money to be happy.
