Summertime is the perfect time to be outdoors with family and friends. Humans and animals alike enjoy frolicking in the open fields, where there is fresh air, grass, and lots of smells and sounds that engage the senses. Summertime is such a happy time!
But the season can easily be ruined by an accident that befalls you or your pets. The warmth welcomes many others beside you and your furry friends, and there are many precautions you should take to stay safe. For example, some parts of the country notice a spike in rattlesnake sightings, and there are precautions you should take in case you or your pet receives a nasty bite. It’s also important to ward yourself against ticks and to know the signs that you’ve been bitten by one.
But plants can also be dangerous to you and your loved ones. The wild parsnip looks like any other weed, and you may even be tempted to pick it, but dermatologists are warning people to avoid contact with this plant. The wild parsnip grows in all 50 states, and if touched, can cause a blistering and painful rash. Leaving that part of your skin exposed in the sunlight can make things much worse and ruin your summer!
Now watch the clip to find out what to do in case you come into contact with the weed.
