Ask any country musician and they’ll tell you that performing at the Grand Ole Opry is a lifelong dream. If you’re lucky enough to make it up on that stage, it’s a monumental experience of which you want to take full advantage. In September of 2015, actor-turned-singer Jonathan Jackson did exactly that when he got his turn at Nashville’s world famous Opry — but it’s what he sang and how he sang it that went viral.
Jonathan Jackson is perhaps most known for his Emmy-winning role on General Hospital and his most recent role as a country crooner on Nashville. But after seeing him perform “Unchained Melody,” one of the most classic and iconic songs of all time, it makes complete sense that Jackson is also a talented musician. Many viewers say this is the best rendition of the song they’ve ever heard — and that’s quite the compliment, considering “Unchained Melody” has been covered by countless artists since it was first released by The Righteous Brothers in 1965. His voice reminds me of Elvis Presley!
By the end, Jackson wins over the crowd and leaves them cheering for more. He did such an amazing job, and boy did he do the classic song proud.
